Microsoft excitedly announced the general availability of the new Microsoft #Teams app for Windows and Mac, including Education customers.
Additionally, “public preview” is beginning for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and government cloud customers.
What would be the main points to highlight?
Although we have already discussed many of them, we could highlight these:
👟 Improved performance: Teams public preview was up to twice as fast and uses 50% less memory. Thanks to the fact that it was built with a new architecture, under the React framework and using Edge WebView2, greater efficiency in resource usage is observed on both Windows and Mac.
🥳 Full features: The new version of Teams now has equivalent functionality to almost all features like custom apps, meeting rooms, 7×7 video calling, contextual search in chats and channels, among others.
👀 Simplified user experience: A simpler and more efficient interface has been introduced, with improved customization options, including light and dark mode, and better support for users with color sensitivity. (And we have also thought about people less inclined to change, with the possibility of using a theme with the colors of the “already classic” Teams client).
🌍 Flexibility for transorganizational communication: With support for multi-tenant organizations (MTO) and multi-tenant, multi-account (MTMA), collaboration across organizational boundaries becomes more seamless.
✨ Smarter teams: Introducing next-generation AI experiences like Microsoft #Copilot, which assists in meetings and conversations to increase productivity.
🆙 Transparent update: Existing Teams users will be automatically updated in the coming months. A simple click on the toggle in the top left corner of the classic Teams app will activate the new version. All this without the need for any additional configuration.
In summary, with these improvements, we seek to offer a faster, simpler, smarter and more flexible tool for improving collaboration and productivity. It is essential that organizations prioritize upgrading to this new version of Teams.
